Two Years! {A Blogiversary}.

There are lots of important things I could talk about today. For instance, the fact that it's inauguration day. Or the fact that it's Martin Luther King Day (which, as a side note, is not recognized here at my office - hence the reason I am behind my desk today). Or the fact that January 21st is officially 'the most miserable day of the year.' Which I learned on the radio this morning. Apt for a Monday, eh?

So, yep, there's a lot of things we could delve into. But instead, today, I'd simply like to wish my little slice of the blog world a "Happy 2nd Birthday."

Happy 2nd Birthday, The Newly!

It my seem trite. It may be totally cliche. But when I realized that yesterday was my two year 'blogiversary' I just couldn't let today go by without recognizing it. Mostly because blogging has become such a important part of my life. It's something that I do just for me. For no other reason other than the fact that I enjoy it. It gives me a voice. It keeps me sane. It keeps me connected. It allows me to share so much more than I ever thought possible. And learn so much about so many things I would have never had an interest in, had I not pursued this little outlet.

What's most amazing to me about this gift we have in our blogs, is the ability we have to glimpse back at our lives from the beginning of our writing journeys through the present. I can see major growth in the last couple of years. In both my blog writing and in my life in general. I started the blog as a naive, young bride-to-be, who just wanted to document a few wedding memories for the future. The blog has now followed me through the wedding, the first two years of my marriage, my first long-term job (albeit not in my career of choice), the addition of two beloved fur family members, the death of a loved one, a miscarriage, and the first half of my current pregnancy thus far. And all of the fights, funny quotes, fashion mishaps, and weekly confessions in between.

Would I have these memories, or glimpses, of life as I know it without the blog? No. Some of the things I include here on the blog - particularly the little day-to-day moments - are things I would never remember had I not written them down. Recorded them. And that's what I am most thankful for. I know that one day, I will look back at these entries and be so thankful that I have these blurbs from my early days as a wife and mother. I know that they will be so, so precious.

Along with serving as a diary of sorts, the blog has allowed me to connect, in ways I never thought possible, with fellow bloggers. I have made some sweet, sweet blog friends whom I rely on almost as much as I do my 'real life' friends for advice, support and words of wisdom in times of need. You all know who you are. Please know how much you are appreciated!

I will leave off there with a simple,
"Happy Birthday little blog. It's been a good 2 years!"
