A Valentine 'Sesh {Some Friday Confessions}.

Happy Friday, loves!

I hope that you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day. How's about a little 'fesh sesh to to end the week, yes? I'm in the mood, I've got some things to share and it's been a couple of weeks since we've done one. Don't forget to link up with Leslie to join in.

I Confess...

1.   I love Russell Stover chocolates. Their assorted boxes are one of my favorite things about Valentine's Day. However, despite the variety, I only eat the caramel and coconut chocolates out of the box. Weird, right?

2.   I have the best hubby in the world. He's a keeper. For Valentine's Day, the man went out and picked up the following lovelies for his preggo wife (who's been complaining about how being pregnant means foregoing all the 'cute' stuff in life for 10 months). I may not get to wear the most fashionable clothes for the next few months, but thanks to my sweet B, at least my feet will be stylin'. Who needs roses?

Women's Mossimo® Macha Hidden Wedge Ballet Flat - Blush

(which he also ordered in the mint color. seriously)
3.   Okay, okay. I admit, I'd be a liar of the worst variety if I said I didn't expect some flowers on V-day. Not necessarily roses, but a few blooms of some sort usually make their way into our home on February 14th. Last year, B had a beautiful wildflower bouquet made. This year, he went a little more traditional, but still absolutely gorgeous. I have never seen roses like the cream with pink tinged tips before. Love them.

Our cozy little dinner set-up last night. Non-alcoholic beverage included.
4.   My Valentine's Day gift for him, you ask? A bag of his favorite coffee and a batch of his favorite homemade cut-out cookies, which only appear a couple of times a year. After all, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, right? I whipped up the dough on Monday night, and set to work cutting them out and icing them on Wednesday night. By the time I was down to the last few, this little preggo was exhausted. So, my sweet husband stepped in to 'help' me by icing a few himself. The results:

Some of the cookies I iced...
One of my husband's masterpieces. Is this even a heart?
5.   The best part of the whole cookie icing thing? He really thought he'd done a great job. Said he thought his looked 'just like mine.' Who am I to kill the man's spirit by saying it looked more like something our unborn son could have done? Instead, I let him have his sugared and sprinkled moment of glory. And then took pictures to giggle about with you gals today on the blog:)

In other, non-Valentine related confessions...

6.   Our curious cat has about done me in this week. Let's just say his little fluffy butt is super lucky that our guest rooms are about to undergo major transformations to make way for the nursery. Otherwise, I might be just a little more than devastated that he decided to jump up on the mantel in one of the rooms and knock down one of my favorite mercury glass pillar candle holders. Shattered it to bits. I could have cried when I saw the damage. But, I didn't. Instead, I chose to focus on the fact that in just a few short weeks, that room will be filled with our little man's furniture and decor. I have a feeling I won't miss that candle nearly so much then.

7.   I need some sunshine in my life. Literally. It's rained almost every day this week. My vitamin D supply is severely lacking. And my cheeks could use a little color. Deathly pale just isn't a good hue for me...

8.   The hubs and I have our first 'baby class' tomorrow. On breastfeeding. Should be interesting.

9.   We are also signed up for the baby care basics classes and an infant CPR class. We are not signed up for a childbirth class. I just don't know if I want to do that. Any thoughts/suggestions on this? Is it necessary? I feel like I can get the info that I need from both, A) Videos and internet sources, and B) My husband - who will have completed his OB round by the time Caleb arrives and will have seen everything there is to see by then. Joy.

10.   I'm just going to be very honest here for a second: Between the baby and several other upcoming events happening in our lives and loved ones lives, I feel like B and I are stretched to  the max financially. With multiple weddings and a college graduation coming up, sometimes I wonder how we are going to manage to swing it all. Anyone else feel like that sometimes? Being wife to a med-school student is hard. Everyone always says that doctors make a lot of money. Well, I'm here to tell you that the reason they make the big bucks is because they have to make up for all the years that they spent being broke on the road to becoming doctors.

11.   Just as an example to show how hard it is at times: B's board exams are coming up. Want to guess how much that'll cost us? $1,900.00. Yes. $1,900.00. For a test. To prove that the $40,000 plus per year in tuition is working. Makes sense, right? Test makers: DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH BABY STUFF I COULD BUY WITH $1,900? A lot.

I totally didn't mean for the confession session to turn into a mini-rant, so let me just quit while I'm ahead and wish you all a super fabulous weekend.

See you back here on Monday!

Ugh, being the wife of a med student is no walk in the park. I've already asked our parents to start saving their airline miles for when J is interviewing for residency programs. I'm dreading those costs and it's still a few years away!

Hang in there and I know how you feel, the Bar exam cost me a pretty penny and more just to take on the computer and not hand write a 3 day exam!

MG and I go through times like that too, financially, usually it's around the holidays that have us going 'Where did all of our money go?"

I love that you guys decorated cookies together! I also love the Russell Stover chocolates--I'll make a deal with you--you can have all of my coconut ones and I'll eat the leftovers of yours haha

We went to the baby CPR class and I think it was pretty good. It helps give us peace of mind, and I just pray we (or anyone else) never has to use it! I was going to go to a breast-feeding class, but our little gooseberry came early, so the nurses helped me at the hospital. I decided not to go to a birthing class, I figured that things would happen naturally and knew that I had great doctors to take care of me and baby if something went wrong. Sure enough, the doctors did what they needed to do without me going to a class.

How sweet is your V-day dinner! Love that. Looks like y'all had a nice day. Also, those cookies look so yummy! My hubby and I went to a B&B for a night which was much needed!

How was the breastfeeding class? Did they teach you anything you didn't already know?
