28 Weeks! {'Bump'date}

How can I best sum up this week in just a few short words? Hmmmm....

I guess it would have to be with my co-worker's silly remark on Monday morning: "Did your belly grow over the weekend?"  From anyone else, this comment may have sparked some righteous outrage. But, this particular co-worker and I are friends, so I didn't take offense to it. Honestly, it was partly that. And partly the fact that: she's right. The belly really has been growing. Quickly. My maternity tops are actually fitting now. My belly bands have gotten tighter. And I have the itchy skin to prove it (itchy skin while pregnant means stretching - which means growth).

But, judge for yourself. Here's the 'bump'date for the week:

28 Weeks!

Can you tell how much bigger he is?
Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:   28 weeks! Only 12 weeks to go now. My husband realized this on Sunday night. I think it was his first 'wow' moment. As in, 'Wow - this baby's going to be here soon.' Three months or less.

Baby's Size:   According to Babycenter, baby boy is the size of a Chinese cabbage (huh?) and weighs around two and a half pounds. He is about 70% cooked and growing.

Total Weight Gain:   We've hit another growth spurt friends. To put it kindly. Ugh. As of my check up this morning, I am up a total of about 25 pounds. A 7 lb increase since my last check up. Not loving it. But, it definitely confirms what I've been saying for the last week or two - this kid is growing. Growing. Growing. Growing.

Maternity Clothes?   Yep. And running low on options now that warmer weather has arrived. While it was easy to throw loose fitting, pre-preggo cardigans on over tank tops and tees, finding non-maternity options in my spring wardrobe is going to be more challenging. Definitely going to have to invest in a few basics pretty soon (i.e. maternity tees and tanks, and a few preggo tops and tunics).

Best Moment This Week:   Passing the blood glucose test at the doctor's office this morning. I wasn't too worried about it, but I have been consuming a lot of sugar lately (dang Girl Scout cookies), which made me nervous going in. Hearing little man's heartbeat was also a highlight of the week. It was strong today - in the 150's. I love getting to hear that precious little thumping sound on the Doppler. If I can't see him, at least I can hear him!

Gender:   Baby boy! Love my little man so much already.

Movement:  Little man is a mover. He doesn't stay still for long, and likes to flip around and kick side to side. Sometimes I can feel his little body pushing against me in different spots - his head here, his little behind there, a foot here, a jab of a tiny hand there and so on. Sometimes it's as if he's running out of room. Which he no doubt is. I know I am.

Food Cravings:   Fig Newtons (strawberry flavored). Girl Scout Somoa cookies. Potato chips. Starburst jelly beans. Dole fruit cups. Fruit - this week it's strawberries. Cereal.

Food Aversions:  Vegetables, which is recent. And very unfortunate. Also, onion, garlic, caramel and coffee scents - the old reliables.

What I Miss:   Sleeping on my back and/or tummy. The side sleeping is getting old. Getting dressed without any forethought or pre-planning. Being able to put leggings and tights on without having to sit down (or risk falling over, which I have done).

Sleep?  What is sleep? Or at least, what is good sleep? I wake up often to move. And move again. And again. Restless preggo syndrome. Is that a diagnosis? Because if not, I'm calling for it to be one.

What I'm Looking Forward To:   Enjoying one last quiet weekend at home with my honey. This is the last weekend that B and I will have at home for a while. Next weekend, the wedding and baby events commence, and we will be going full throttle until Caleb's arrival. Hoping to enjoy some of the warmer weather and sunshine we've been having lately. Who knows? Maybe this baby belly will even get to catch some rays, if Mother Nature cooperates. Lord knows I sure could use some sun kissed skin (and some vitamin D, according to my soon-to-be doctor husband).

I bought a few maternity tanks at Target that I wore throughout my pregnancy. I wore them everyday, and it made me feel so much better that I wasn't going to accidentally show my stomach or something! Now that I've had the baby, I'm also a big fan of their nursing tanks. I probably wouldn't have worn them while pregnant, except to sleep in because they are super comfortable!

I can only imagine how it feels to have a little someone doing flips and kicks inside of you all the time! Does it wake you up?
