I am back behind my desk this morning after three glorious days off. Last week was a long week for this little Mama. So, on Friday, I did something very uncharacteristic for me. I called in sick. And I'm not the least bit sorry about it. Technically, I called Caleb in sick. And he and I played hooky from work and daycare.
Over the weekend, B had to work. So Caleb and I made the most of it. We slept in on our unplanned day off, got all packed up and ready to go, and then made a trip up to see Caleb's great-grandparents - known to our family as Dosh and Pawpaw. A bunch of the aunts and uncles and cousins were in town to celebrate a couple of birthdays, so the house was filled to bursting. Caleb was spoiled rotten. I don't think his little tush saw anything but loving arms the entire time we were there...He'll probably need a little bit of an adjustment period now that we are back home, he's back to daycare, and there's not as many family members fighting for a chance to hold him! And Mama will need an adjustment period too. It was so nice to have so many loved ones around. I love being in the company of family, and grew up with a large and rowdy extended family. That brand of jolly chaos is the kind I love. Pallets on the floor, jumping on the bed, homemade breakfasts, Truett's for lunch, girl's trip to Target, family prayer over dinner, cousin loving...the works. I was in my element.
Here's a few pics I snapped on my phone over the weekend:

|A busy weekend makes for one tired baby. And one exhausted mama (not pictured).|
Despite the wreck it made of our little schedule, I'm so glad that we were able to spend some quality time with some family members that we don't get to see nearly enough. Sometimes life just gets so busy, weeks and months pass by before you even realize it. I'm trying be more proactive about refusing to let that happen to Caleb. I want him to spend as much time as possible with family while we can! We've got a busy week ahead, full of friends, fun and more family. And we can't wait.
Tonight, we are off to a Mexican-themed baby shower to celebrate the upcoming arrival of a baby girl for our friends, Miles and Ashley. I had so much fun picking out a sweet little baby girl dress over the weekend and can't wait to give it to them tonight (along with some not-nearly-as-exciting but way more necessary items such as diapers and baby meds). Maybe one day B and I can give Caleb and precious little sister of his own!
