The weekends always seem to fly by. And even more so lately because we are just so busy. I don't say that with pride. I don't wear it like a badge of honor like some people do. No, I actually cringe when I think about it. I hate that we are so busy lately. B's schedule remains hectic. He was on call Friday night and did not get home until dinnertime on Saturday, so our weekend together was shorter than normal. Despite the fact that we were on the go for the entire 48 hours that was our weekend, we still managed to have some fun and get a lot done. Here's a few bright spots:
1) Caleb and I got to do a mother-son lunch at Chick-fil-A on Friday when I got off work.
Friday night, Daddy was on call, so Caleb bug and I grocery shopped, watched a movie, played with the pup and indulged in some yummy leftovers and dessert. We got to sleep in on Saturday, which is a rare luxury. Who wouldn't love waking up to this face?
While at the mall, I picked up these cute jeans. I'd been wanting this exact pair for awhile, but was waiting for them to go on sale. They were 40% off over the weekend. Yes, please.
3) After shopping the mall, we headed to Target to pick up a few things for baby boy. Caleb is a very well-dressed little man, and has plenty of clothing. He's got twill pants and khackis, overalls and jeans, corduroys and embroidered trousers. Despite this, somehow he is running short on 6 month play pants - which is what he wears every day to daycare. So we went on a play pant hunt. And scored big. The Circo (Target brand) fleece play pants were on sale for $4. We stocked up in the 6 month and the 9 month size. I was also able to pick him up a precious pair of fleece bear pajamas for the cooler weather. Can't wait to see him in them.
Oh, and while we were there, this little gem made it's way into the cart. For $8. Cute, comfy, cozy right? Total steal.
I looked at this shirt (in grey) while I was there, too. It did not come home with me. It wasn't nearly as cute as I'd hoped it would be. Sad. I'd had such high hopes for it.
4) B finally got home late Saturday evening, and despite the fact that he was exhausted after being in continuous surgeries for 48 hours on 3 hours of sleep, he still managed to take Caleb and I out for a late night Mexican dinner date, complete with frosty margaritas. He stayed awake long enough to pop a Christmas movie in for us when we got home, and then it was lights out for Daddy-O. Honestly, I only made it for 20 minutes or so myself, and then I was asleep too. Parenthood is exhausting!
5) On Sunday, after a night of very little sleep thanks to a restless little one, we managed to get up and around in time for church (albeit 10 minutes late). Caleb wore a collared shirt for the first time and I just about died of the cuteness.
We couldn't decide what we wanted for lunch after church, so we ended up driving around for about 20 minutes before settling on Mellow Mushroom where we picked up a Ceasar pizza to go. Yum! I am already looking forward to indulging in some leftovers today for lunch!
|Waiting on Daddy to pick up the pizza.|
After lunch, we headed home and while I whipped up another batch of cranberry pumpkin bread, a sausage quiche, and caught up on some housework, my guys caught up on some more sleep. Could they be any cuter? Love them!
All in all, we had a great (if rather short) weekend!
A few other things...
*The lab results on my bloodwork came back last week, and I forgot to mention it. Everything's fine. All of my hormone levels are normal, as are my thyroid levels and my liver functioning levels. And I am not anemic. So, I just have to chalk up the hair loss to post-partum (being told there's nothing to fix this really sucks). And assume that I am underweight because I am breastfeeding and busy, busy, busy. I'm sure when Caleb and I quit breastfeeding, I'll be filling out my jeans again in no time.
*Our house is still on the market. And no, we haven't seen much movement on it at this point. Since it's so late in the year now, and the holidays are approaching so quickly, I'm thinking it will most likely be the new year before anything happens. Which, honestly, is ok with me. Despite the fact that we'd love to sell it, we have enough going on right now as it is without having to worry about finding a new place to live right before Christmas.
*BIG NEWS: (and again, no - I'm not pregnant) I am hosting my first blog sale THIS week! On Wednesday. It will be a "Shop My Closet" event. And it's going to be great! I'll be offering boutique and brand name clothing, accessories and shoes (that have never been worn or were only worn ONCE!) at very low prices. So, please be sure to stop by - you won't be sorry!
